What we do

Vägen ut! Karins Döttrar is a textile arts and crafts cooperative in Gothenburg, Sweden. We offer work training and language training for women and non-binary individuals.

In our calm and creative environment our participants develop skills in sewing and textile crafts.

We specialize in supporting people who have been absent from the work force for a long time. The cause of absence might be either a physical or mental health issue, a language barrier, a stress related condition, a criminal record, or a previous addiction. Every individual here works at 100% of their own capacity.

Work gives us positive routines and a sense of purpose. Our goal is to support our participants in balancing all aspects of life and achieving greater sustainability, while working at their own pace based on individual goals and needs in a creative environment.

Our language training helps individuals develop their language skills to achieve success in different areas of life. We support participants in improving their communication skills, increasing their self-confidence and facilitating integration into Swedish-speaking environments, while they participate in our daily work of manufacturing textile handicraft products for various customers.

Creativity Creation vs Isolation

Two afternoons each week we visit the security detention center in Gothenburg to meet women and non-binary people. We offer activities that break isolation. Through creative methods we offer an opportunity to express and process their thoughts and feelings. Our work creates community, breaks isolation and gives the women a moment of respite in an otherwise stressful situation.
